The funding round, led by Zoho co-founder Kumar Vembu, will help B-Arm grow its women’s healthcare business, which began with a founder’s personal experience of motherhood.
B-Arm Medical Technologies, a Tamil Nadu-based healthcare startup, has raised ₹4.8 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Mudhal Partners, which is associated with the Zoho family. The round also included other high-net-worth individual investors.
The latest funding takes the startup’s total capital raised to approximately ₹9 crore through a combination of debt and equity. The company has not disclosed its valuation or the stake acquired by investors.
Mudhal Partners is led by Kumar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho. B-Arm plans to use the fresh capital to expand its business, develop new products, strengthen its brand, and increase its reach across India, with a particular focus on women’s healthcare.
How a Mother’s Experience Inspired B-Arm
B-Arm’s focus on women’s health grew out of co-founder Sruthi Sri’s personal experience of motherhood.
A biomedical engineer and mother of three, Sri experienced pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery,y and breastfeeding firsthand. She found that many of the physical challenges women face during these stages were rarely discussed openly.
Issues such as post-delivery soreness, breastfeeding difficulties, pregnancy-related concerns, and intimate health problems were often treated as experiences women were simply expected to endure.
Her husband, Barathram, also a biomedical engineer and the founder of B-Arm, saw an opportunity to apply their engineering backgrounds to these challenges. The couple began exploring ways to develop practical and accessible products that address the needs of Indian women.
That experience became the foundation of the company.
B-Arm says it aims to address problems women often experience in silence, with products designed to support different stages of life, from puberty to menopause.
Building Women’s Healthcare Products Through Engineering
B-Arm’s approach combines product development with awareness and education. The company argues that many women’s health concerns remain under-discussed or are treated as taboo, leaving some women unaware that solutions are available.
Rather than focusing solely on individual products, the startup aims to build a range of solutions around women’s changing healthcare needs.
Its stated philosophy is to listen to women first and then develop products that make their experiences easier, safer, and more comfortable.
Beyond women’s healthcare, B-Arm operates in the pulmonology and occupational therapy segments. Its product portfolio also includes solutions for children with autism and speech difficulties. The company says it holds more than 10 patents.
B-Arm Gains Visibility Through Startup Singam
B-Arm attracted wider attention after appearing on Startup Singam, a startup investment reality show broadcast on Vijay Television and streamed on JioHotstar.
The startup was among the participants reported to have received one of the show’s higher funding amounts. It also received a Top Ten Startup award from approximately 3,000 applications submitted for the programme’s second season.
Similar to Shark Tank India, Startup Singam gives founders an opportunity to present their businesses to investors while introducing startups to a wider audience.
The latest funding will support B-Arm’s plans to expand its women’s healthcare business, develop its product portfolio, and reach more customers across India.
