US-based AI cloud provider CoreWeave is entering India through a planned 240 MW data centre in Navi Mumbai, partnering with AdaniConneX to expand infrastructure for AI computing.
US-based AI cloud computing company CoreWeave is entering India through a partnership with AdaniConneX to develop 240 megawatts (MW) of data centre capacity in Navi Mumbai. The project will expand CoreWeave’s AI infrastructure footprint and bring its cloud computing services closer to Indian enterprises and developers.
The planned facility will comprise three buildings, each with 80 MW of capacity, at AdaniConneX’s Taloja campus. CoreWeave will be the sole tenant across all three buildings, with an option to add another 240 MW, potentially increasing the site’s total capacity to 480 MW.
The first phase is expected to become available in mid-2028, with additional capacity scheduled to come online in stages. The companies have not disclosed the financial value of the project.
CoreWeave Plans to Deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin Platform
CoreWeave plans to deploy NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform across its Indian AI cloud infrastructure. The technology is intended to support workloads such as AI model training, inference, reasoning, and agentic AI applications.
The Taloja facilities are being designed for high-density computing, featuring direct liquid cooling in GPU data halls and a non-evaporative chilled water system.
According to CoreWeave, the infrastructure will be designed to accommodate future generations of AI computing technology as processing demands increase.
The company also plans to establish an office in India and recruit local employees to support customers and partners. It has not yet disclosed the office location, hiring targets,s or timeline for setting up its local operations.
“India has the talent, developers, and ambition to become a major center of AI innovation,” said Sachin Jain, COO of CoreWeave.
He added that the company plans to invest in infrastructure, technology, and local operations to support AI development in India.
Expansion Supports India’s AI Infrastructure Ambitions
CoreWeave’s planned entry comes as India expands its domestic AI capabilities through initiatives such as the government’s IndiaAI Mission.
Approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2024, the mission aims to strengthen the country’s AI ecosystem by improving access to computing infrastructure, supporting innovation and encouraging the development of AI applications.
The demand for specialised computing infrastructure has also increased as businesses and developers adopt more complex AI workloads.
CoreWeave said its India expansion reflects customer demand for its AI cloud services and its strategy of bringing computing capacity closer to enterprises and developers in international markets.
Its partner, AdaniConneX, is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and US-based data centre operator EdgeConneX.
In February 2026, the Adani Group announced plans to expand its data centre infrastructure towards a 5-gigawatt target, building on what it described as AdaniConneX’s existing 2 GW national data centre platform. The expansion forms part of the group’s broader plans to develop AI-ready infrastructure in India.
CoreWeave Expands Its Global AI Cloud Network
The India announcement follows CoreWeave’s expansion into Indonesia in August 2026. The company announced plans for three data centre facilities with a combined 360 MW of contracted IT power, expected to become operational in 2028.
CoreWeave reported approximately 4.2 GW of contracted power globally as of August 11, 2026, up from around 3.7 GW at the end of June, according to a company announcement in September.
Contracted power refers to capacity secured for infrastructure plans and does not mean that all the capacity is already operational.
Founded in 2017, CoreWeave provides cloud computing infrastructure for AI workloads, serving developers, startups, research laboratories and large enterprises. The company began trading on the Nasdaq in March 2025 under the ticker symbol CRWV.
The planned Navi Mumbai facility will extend CoreWeave’s international infrastructure network into India, although its first phase is not expected to become available until mid-2028.
