KENT RO’s Rs 250 crore investment will support its entry into battery and inverter production at a new plant in Noida.
KENT RO Systems has invested more than Rs 250 crore in a new manufacturing plant in Sector 159, Noida, as the water purifier maker enters the home energy market with lithium battery packs and solar hybrid inverters under its new division, KENT New Energy.
The company expects revenue to reach around Rs 1,750 crore in FY27, up from Rs 1,350 crore in FY26, representing growth of nearly 30%, Chairman and Managing Director Mahesh Gupta said.
The new facility spans 3 lakh square feet across a six-acre site and has an installed annual production capacity of 3.5 GWh. KENT plans to increase that capacity to 10 GWh within six months.
Energy is the company’s third business vertical, following water purification and its Kühl range of brushless direct current (BLDC) fans.
“Our vision is to build on the trust KENT has earned and extend our role across three essentials of everyday life: water, air, and power,” Gupta said.
KENT New Energy: Battery and Inverter Products
KENT’s new range centers on home energy storage systems that combine lithium batteries with solar hybrid inverters. The systems are designed to store electricity generated by solar panels or drawn from the grid for use in the evening and during power cuts.
The lithium battery packs are available in capacities of 5.1 kWh, 11.8 kWh, and 16 kWh. According to the company’s launch details, the batteries are rated for more than 6,000 charge cycles and carry a 10-year warranty. Customers can connect up to 16 battery packs in parallel.
The solar hybrid inverter range includes single-phase models rated between 3 kW and 6 kW, along with three-phase models ranging from 10 kW to 15 kW.
Each inverter comes with a 4G data logger and a five-year data pack. Through a KENT mobile app, installers can monitor installed units and change settings remotely. The company said the data is stored on servers in India in accordance with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy requirements.
For households seeking backup power without a solar setup, KENT has introduced 12V and 24V lithium batteries for home inverters and UPS systems. These products offer capacities ranging from 1.28 kWh to 3.84 kWh, with prices for 12V batteries starting at Rs 22,000.
The portfolio also includes an all-in-one inverter with a built-in lithium battery and the H1 series home UPS. Prices listed on KENT’s new energy store go up to Rs 6.6 lakh for its largest solar hybrid inverter.
Sales Network and Imported Battery Cells
KENT plans to sell its new energy products through its dealer network, retail stores and online channels. Solar hybrid inverters and larger battery packs will also be distributed through system integrators and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partners.
The company currently imports its battery cells from international suppliers, including EVE and REPT, rather than manufacturing the cells in India.
“At the moment, the batteries and inverters are still very high-priced, and the components like cells, which we use in our batteries, are still being imported,” Gupta said.
The use of imported components remains a factor in the company’s entry into the energy storage market as it builds its manufacturing capacity in India.
KENT Sees Rs 1,000 Crore Opportunity in Solar Energy
Gupta expects residential solar adoption to become a major growth driver for KENT, supported in part by government initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
“I have taken a very aggressive step in terms of solar, hybrid inverters, and batteries to begin with. That itself, vertical, can go to Rs 1,000 crore in two to three years for me,” he told PTI.
A Rs 1,000 crore energy business would account for more than half of KENT’s current FY27 revenue target.
Water purification remains the company’s largest business. It contributed around Rs 1,000 crore of KENT’s Rs 1,350 crore turnover in FY26, or roughly three-fourths of total revenue.
The company is entering the market as India’s rooftop solar sector expands. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, launched in February 2024 with an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and a target of covering one crore households, had crossed 60 lakh households by early October 2026, according to figures cited in the supplied report.
Market estimates cited by KENT put India’s inverter battery market at approximately $1.31 billion in 2026, with double-digit annual growth expected through 2031.
Rs 500 Crore Manufacturing Project Near Noida International Airport
KENT is also planning another manufacturing facility on a 25-acre plot in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area, near the upcoming Noida International Airport.
The proposed facility will have around 11 lakh square feet of covered space and require an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore over the next three years. The company plans to spend Rs 300 crore on construction and Rs 200 crore on equipment.
Gupta said the facility would manufacture products from KENT’s existing portfolio while leaving room for future expansion. The project will be funded through the company’s internal accruals.
The site is linked to an earlier expansion plan. In January 2024, Gupta told PTI that KENT had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government and received land for a Rs 300 crore plant to manufacture energy-efficient BLDC fans.
“We are a very strong financial company, and we have our internal accruals, which we keep investing as we go forward,” Gupta said.
KENT Puts IPO Plans on Hold
Gupta ruled out an immediate initial public offering (IPO) or private equity investment.
KENT filed draft IPO papers with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in January 2025. The proposed issue was entirely an offer for sale of around 1.01 crore shares held by promoters Mahesh Gupta, Sunita Gupta and Varun Gupta, who collectively owned 99.77% of the company at the time. SEBI approved the issue in June 2025.
In May 2026, Gupta said the company had put its listing plans on hold for at least a year because of market volatility linked to the West Asia conflict. He also said KENT had no foreign shareholders pressuring it to go public.
At the time, Gupta projected FY27 revenue growth of around 15%. The latest estimate of nearly 30% represents a significant increase in the company’s growth outlook.
The current revenue target is, however, below the Rs 2,000 crore figure Gupta had set for FY27 in January 2024. KENT reported revenue of Rs 1,178 crore in FY24, according to its draft IPO papers.
Export Business and Plans for Europe
KENT currently generates around Rs 50 crore in annual export revenue. Its products are sold under the KENT brand through distributors in Kuwait, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and several African countries.
Gupta said the company has held discussions with European buyers interested in its batteries and is exploring opportunities to export the products to the region.
Founded by Gupta in 1999, KENT RO Systems is headquartered in Noida and sells water purifiers, kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, alongside its newer fan and energy businesses.
In January 2024, the company had set a target of tripling exports to Rs 200 crore within three years. It also signed a brand licensing agreement with Black & Decker to manufacture water purifiers in India for the US market.
With its new Noida plant and planned investment near the airport, KENT is expanding beyond water purification while betting on rising demand for home energy storage and solar power solutions.
