The new partnership lets eligible users unlock a 30-day Netflix Mobile subscription after four qualifying orders.
Bengaluru: Walmart-owned Flipkart has partnered with Netflix to offer eligible Flipkart Plus members a free 30-day Netflix Mobile subscription after completing four qualifying purchases each month.
The offer, which takes effect from August 1, 2026, is available to Flipkart Plus members who place four orders of at least ₹299 each within a calendar month. Eligible purchases can be made on Flipkart, Flipkart Grocery, or Flipkart Minutes.
Once customers complete the fourth qualifying order, they can activate the Netflix Mobile plan through the Flipkart app at no additional cost.
How the Offer Works
The complimentary subscription remains valid for 30 days from the date it is unlocked. To continue receiving the benefit, customers must meet the same shopping requirement in each subsequent month.
Customers who are not already Flipkart Plus members can join the loyalty programme automatically by completing 15 orders within 12 months, with no membership fee required.
According to the companies, this is Netflix’s first e-commerce partnership in India and the first arrangement in the country’s online retail sector that allows customers to earn a Netflix subscription through regular shopping activity rather than purchasing it separately or receiving it as part of another bundled service.
Turning Everyday Shopping Into Entertainment
Ravi Iyer, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at Flipkart, said the partnership reflects changing shopping habits as customers increasingly purchase groceries, essentials, and quick-commerce items through the platform.
“Completing four orders a month is already a natural shopping pattern for many of our customers,” he said, adding that the partnership rewards routine purchases with premium entertainment.
Laurent Uguen, Vice President for Partnerships and Business Development, Asia-Pacific, at Netflix, said the collaboration was designed around customers’ existing shopping habits.
“The strongest partnerships are built around real consumer preferences and habits,” he said, adding that Flipkart Plus members can unlock a month of Netflix Mobile simply by reaching their regular monthly shopping milestones.
Competition in E-Commerce Intensifies
The partnership comes as India’s e-commerce and quick-commerce companies increasingly use loyalty programmes and exclusive benefits to encourage repeat purchases and strengthen customer retention.
Flipkart competes with Amazon in traditional e-commerce, while its quick-commerce platform Flipkart Minutes rivals Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket.
The collaboration also comes ahead of Flipkart’s anticipated public market debut. Walmart completed the relocation of Flipkart’s holding company from Singapore to India in March 2026, following government approval, paving the way for a potential domestic stock market listing.
According to a previous Reuters report, Flipkart is targeting an IPO in Mumbai before March 2027, although the timing, valuation, and issue size have yet to be finalized.
