The Denmark-based toy maker has opened its first certified store in Mumbai as part of its expansion plans in India.
Mumbai: Danish toy maker LEGO Group has opened its first LEGO Certified Store in Mumbai, marking another step in its retail expansion across India.
Located at R City Mall in Ghatkopar, the store opened on 25 July in partnership with the Ample Group. It is LEGO’s fifth certified store in India, following launches in Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Fifth LEGO Certified Store in India
LEGO entered India’s certified retail market in May 2025 with its first store at Ambience Mall, Gurugram. The company later expanded with two outlets in Bengaluru and one in Chennai before bringing the concept to Mumbai.
The new 2,310 sq ft store offers more than 250 LEGO sets across themes including LEGO City, Technic, Icons, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, Creator, and Botanicals.
Among the flagship products are the LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Megacar and the LEGO Icons Arcade Pinball Machine.
Mumbai-Inspired Experiences
The Mumbai outlet has been designed to celebrate the city’s culture and landmarks through exclusive brick-built installations.
One of its highlights is India’s first vertical LEGO Play Wall, an interactive feature designed to encourage creative play.
Visitors can also see detailed LEGO recreations of some of Mumbai’s most recognisable landmarks, including:
- The Gateway of India
- Marine Drive
- The Bandra-Worli Sea Link
- Mumbai’s iconic black-and-yellow taxis
- A LEGO model of the city’s famous Dabbawalas built using 29,000 bricks
The displays were created specifically for the Mumbai store, reflecting the city’s heritage and identity.
Guinness World Record Celebration
To mark the opening, LEGO organised a large-scale community building event that earned the Guinness World Records title for the Largest LEGO Brick Mosaic (Multiple Panels).
The installation was created using approximately 738,000 LEGO bricks with the help of hundreds of LEGO enthusiasts led by Indian LEGO Certified Professional Ritam Bhatnagar.
The finished mosaic featured Mumbai-inspired artwork, including the city’s coastline, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, taxis, and a prominent “Hello Mumbai” message.
LEGO India celebrated the achievement by thanking fans who participated in the record-breaking build.
Celebrity Appearance
Actor and television presenter Rannvijay Singha attended the launch event, joining fans and families as the new store officially opened its doors.
India Remains a Growth Market
Bhavana Mandon, Country Manager of LEGO India, said Mumbai’s history made it an ideal location for the company’s latest store.
“Mumbai was built from seven islands joined into one, a city quite literally assembled piece by piece. We could imagine no more natural home for the LEGO brand in India,” she said.
Rajesh Narang, Founder and CEO of Ample Group, said the opening represented another milestone in expanding premium retail experiences for Indian consumers.
The Mumbai launch reflects LEGO’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in India, where demand for educational toys, collectibles, and family-focused retail experiences continues to grow.
