The company maintains that its products meet safety standards and has provided supporting evidence to regulators.
Nestle India has firmly rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged presence of infestation in Maggi noodles, stating that extensive testing and quality assessments found no evidence supporting the claims.
The clarification came after the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sought a response from the company following media reports published on June 12 that referenced concerns raised online about the popular instant noodle brand.
According to Nestle India, the complaint originated from an unverified social media account on platform X and was subsequently brought to the company’s attention through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Nestle India Denies Infestation Claims
In its official response, the company categorically denied the allegations and emphasized that no verified evidence had been provided to support the claims.
Nestle India stated that it had not received any physical sample from the individual who posted the complaint online. The company also noted that attempts to establish contact with the complainant were unsuccessful because the account could not be reached.
The company maintained that the allegations were being circulated without substantiated evidence and reiterated its confidence in the quality and safety of its products.
Independent Laboratory Testing Conducted
Following standard quality assurance procedures, Nestle India said it immediately initiated an investigation into the matter.
The company sent a reference sample from the same production batch for examination at an independent laboratory that is both FSSAI-notified and NABL-accredited.
According to Nestle India, the laboratory’s findings confirmed that the sample was free from infestation and complied with all applicable quality and food safety standards.
The company explained that independent testing forms an important part of its quality control framework and helps ensure transparency when concerns are raised about product safety.
Batch and Market Samples Also Examined
Beyond the reference sample testing, Nestle India conducted additional quality assessments on both retained batch samples and products sourced from the market.
The results of these evaluations reportedly aligned with the independent laboratory findings.
The company stated that:
- Batch samples showed no signs of infestation.
- Market samples met established quality standards.
- Laboratory reports confirmed product safety and compliance.
- Internal quality records supported the findings.
Nestle India said these checks reinforced its conclusion that the allegations were unfounded.
Information Shared With Food Safety Regulator
As part of the regulatory process, Nestle India confirmed that it submitted a detailed response to FSSAI, including all relevant records and testing documentation.
The company said its submission contained:
- Quality control records from the production batch.
- Test results from market samples.
- Independent laboratory reports.
- Supporting documentation related to manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
The response was provided in connection with FSSAI’s fact-finding inquiry into the matter.
Commitment to Food Safety and Quality
Nestle India emphasized that food safety remains a core priority across its manufacturing operations.
The company stated that its facilities operate under stringent quality control systems and comply with regulatory requirements designed to ensure product safety and consistency.
Maggi remains one of India’s most widely consumed packaged food products, making quality assurance and consumer trust particularly important for the brand.
In its statement, Nestle India reiterated its confidence that the evidence submitted to regulators would establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
“We are confident that the facts and evidence will conclusively establish the truth of the matter,” the company said.
Conclusion
The Maggi infestation allegations have drawn attention online, but Nestle India maintains that extensive testing and independent laboratory analysis found no evidence to support the claims. With quality assessments completed and supporting data submitted to FSSAI, the company has reiterated its commitment to food safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance while awaiting the outcome of the regulator’s review.
