A Viral Request on Social Media

A Bengaluru-based startup founder has sparked widespread discussion online after publicly asking liquor baron Vijay Mallya if he could rent the famous penthouse at Kingfisher Towers for a birthday celebration.

The request, posted on X by entrepreneur Priyam Raj, quickly gained traction and drew thousands of reactions from users curious whether Mallya might respond.

In the message, Raj said he wanted to celebrate his birthday on March 23 with a party that would revive what he described as the city’s “good old Bangalore energy.”

A Direct Appeal to Vijay Mallya

Addressing Vijay Mallya directly in his post, Raj asked whether he could rent the luxurious rooftop residence, often referred to as Kingfisher Villa, for a single night.

“Dear Vijay Mallya, I’m a founder from Bangalore having my birthday on March 23rd. I want to throw a birthday party the city hasn’t seen in a while and bring back the good times,” Raj wrote.

He added that he was serious about renting the property and was willing to pay any price required.

“Can I rent Kingfisher Villa for one night? Dead serious. Will pay. Name your price. Or point me to whoever owns it now,” he wrote.

Post Goes Viral

The unusual request quickly captured attention across social media.

Within hours, the post had attracted over 1.2 million views, sparking a mix of humor, curiosity, and speculation among users.

Many commenters joked about the situation, while others debated whether the property could even be rented given its legal status.

Netizens Respond With Humor

Some social media users joined the conversation with playful responses.

One user humorously claimed ownership of the property and offered it for rent.

“Hey, I own this now. 3.5 lakh per night. Can round off to 3.49 lakh since it’s your big day. If this works for you, I will DM the GPay link,” the user wrote.

The comment added to the viral momentum surrounding the post.

What Is the Kingfisher Towers Penthouse?

The penthouse at Kingfisher Towers in Bengaluru has long been associated with Vijay Mallya.

The luxury residence, sometimes referred to as Kingfisher Villa, was designed as a lavish rooftop mansion intended for Mallya’s personal use.

However, reports suggest the property remains unfinished and entangled in legal and financial proceedings.

Ownership Linked to UBHL Liquidation

According to previous reports, the penthouse is connected to the liquidation proceedings of United Breweries Holdings Limited (UBHL).

The ongoing process has complicated the ownership and completion of the property.

In a June 2025 podcast with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, Vijay Mallya said he was working to resolve the situation and seeking restoration of UBHL.

A Symbol of Bengaluru’s Startup Culture

Although the viral request may have started as a birthday idea, it has also sparked conversations about Bengaluru’s startup culture and its fascination with iconic city landmarks.

For many online observers, the post represented the playful and ambitious spirit often associated with the city’s entrepreneurial community.

Whether the request receives a response from Vijay Mallya remains uncertain.

For now, the post continues to circulate widely across social media, adding another unexpected chapter to the story of one of Bengaluru’s most famous residences.
