Jaipur: Rohit Sharma, founder of the café chain Chaiwalaz, was found dead at his home in Dausa, Rajasthan, on Saturday in what police are investigating as a suspected suicide.
According to officials at Kotwali Police Station, the 30-year-old entrepreneur was found unresponsive at his residence in Saket Colony on Saturday afternoon. Family members rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said a post-mortem examination has been completed, and Sharma’s body was handed over to his family. The exact circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been established, and an investigation is ongoing.
Built Chaiwalaz From a Single Outlet
Sharma was best known for founding Chaiwalaz, a tea café brand that grew from a single outlet into a regional chain.
He began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 17 while studying nursing. His first Chaiwalaz outlet opened in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area before the business expanded to multiple locations.
Over the following years, Sharma built the brand to seven cafés across different cities.
Business Closed Earlier This Year
About six months ago, Sharma shut down all Chaiwalaz outlets.
According to local reports, he had since become increasingly involved in spiritual activities and frequently visited religious places.
Beyond his business, Sharma also participated in social service initiatives in his hometown of Dausa.
Survived by Family
Sharma is survived by his parents, his wife, and their seven-year-old son.
His father, Hitendra Mohan Sharma, runs a medical store, while his wife is a teacher at a private school.
