The 20-year-old leg-spinner caught attention during the Women’s Delhi Premier League after celebrating a wicket with the trending ‘6-7’ gesture.

Cricket celebrations are becoming almost as entertaining as the wickets themselves. At the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026, Medhavi Bidhuri has added another memorable one to the list.

The 20-year-old Delhi leg-spinner caught attention after producing the now-viral ‘6-7’ gesture following the dismissal of South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh in Central Delhi Queens’ tournament opener.

Why did Medhavi Bidhuri celebrate with ‘6-7’?

The celebration came after Bidhuri claimed a wicket in the 16th over.

Arushi Goel completed a diving catch at mid-wicket, after which Bidhuri raised and lowered both hands in the distinctive ‘6-7’ gesture that has recently gained popularity among younger audiences.

There was, however, a personal reason behind the celebration.

Bidhuri normally wanted to wear jersey No. 12, but the number was already taken. Her younger sister then suggested No. 67, combining the jersey number with the viral trend.

The idea eventually became Bidhuri’s trademark celebration.

“This ‘six-seven’ thing is trending a bit,” Bidhuri said after the match, explaining that her younger sister suggested jersey No. 67 and the celebration.

Who is Medhavi Bidhuri?

Medhavi Bidhuri is a 20-year-old right-arm leg-spinner from Delhi who has been part of the state’s domestic cricket system for several years.

She has also represented Delhi at the under-19 level and has gradually built a reputation as a promising young spin bowler.

Her latest performance came for Central Delhi Queens in the 2026 Women’s Delhi Premier League.

Bidhuri returned figures of 2/24 from four overs against South Delhi Superstarz. Central Delhi Queens, however, eventually lost the match by 29 runs.

Bidhuri already has DPL success.

The viral celebration is new. Bidhuri’s performances in the Delhi Premier League are not.

During the 2025 edition, she represented South Delhi Superstarz and played an important role in their title-winning campaign.

In the final against Central Delhi Queens, Bidhuri produced an impressive spell of 3/26 from three overs as South Delhi Superstarz defended 121 runs to win the final by just one run.

That performance helped establish her as one of the young bowlers to watch in Delhi’s domestic cricket circuit.

She was also part of the WPL auction pool

Bidhuri’s progress has extended beyond the Delhi Premier League.

She was among the players registered for the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction, reflecting the attention she had already attracted through her performances at the domestic level.

While she has yet to make her mark in the WPL, her growing profile in Delhi cricket has kept her name on the radar.

The celebration may be viral. The cricket came first.

The ‘6-7’ gesture has given Medhavi Bidhuri a sudden burst of attention, particularly among younger cricket fans.

But behind the viral moment is a young leg-spinner who has been progressing through Delhi’s cricket system for years.

For now, No. 67 has given her an instantly recognisable celebration. Her performances will determine how far the name Medhavi Bidhuri travels next.
