The zero-commission food delivery platform is now available on the Rapido app, offering restaurants an alternative to traditional delivery models.
Bengaluru: Indian ride-hailing platform Rapido has integrated its food delivery service, Ownly, into its main app, allowing users in Bengaluru to order meals alongside booking bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, and cabs.
The move marks Rapido’s latest push into India’s competitive food delivery market, where Swiggy and Zomato currently dominate.
Food Delivery Now Available on Rapido App
Ownly was initially launched as a standalone food delivery application. With the latest integration, customers can access the service directly through the Rapido app without downloading a separate platform.
Rapido said Ownly has already partnered with nearly 20,000 restaurants across Bengaluru, giving users access to a wide range of dining options.
Zero-Commission Model for Restaurants
Rapido positions Ownly as a zero-commission food delivery platform, meaning it does not charge restaurants a percentage of every order.
Instead, restaurants retain a larger share of their revenue while customers benefit from menu prices without additional platform mark-ups.
“Our zero-commission model has shown that restaurants can retain more of every order while customers enjoy honest pricing without hidden platform fees,” said Aravind Sanka, co-founder of Rapido and Ownly.
He added that bringing Ownly to the main Rapido app would help build a food delivery ecosystem focused on transparency, fairness, and long-term sustainability.
Leveraging Rapido’s Large User Base
Rapido believes integrating Ownly into its existing app gives the service immediate access to millions of transport users.
The company noted that India’s ride-hailing user base is nearly twice the size of its online food delivery customer base, creating an opportunity to convert existing mobility users into food delivery customers.
By combining transport and food delivery within one platform, Rapido aims to increase customer engagement while reducing the need for users to switch between multiple apps.
Existing Rider Network Supports Deliveries
Ownly deliveries are fulfilled using Rapido’s existing rider network.
The company said this approach improves rider utilisation, particularly during periods of lower demand for passenger rides, while helping reduce logistics costs.
The shared network also enables Rapido to expand food delivery without building a separate fleet from scratch.
Challenging Swiggy and Zomato
Rapido’s expansion comes as competition in India’s food delivery sector intensifies.
The company joins a growing list of businesses exploring alternative delivery models designed to offer restaurants lower operating costs and greater pricing flexibility.
To encourage adoption, Rapido is offering new Ownly users a 50% discount, capped at ₹100, on their first food order through the platform.
