Indian startup CoRover AI has unveiled Kanha AI, a voice-first artificial intelligence companion designed for children aged 0 to 7 years. The device positions itself as an alternative to screen-heavy digital tools, focusing instead on conversation, imagination, and emotional development.
Built Around Voice, Not Screens
Kanha AI has no display, no streaming content, and no visual stimuli. It functions entirely through natural voice interaction. The company describes it as a listening and guiding presence that evolves with the child’s conversational habits, tone, and interests.
The AI adapts over time, remembering context and responding in a personalized way. Instead of pushing content, it engages children in dialogue intended to encourage curiosity and reflection. Simple prompts such as a morning greeting or gentle check-in are designed to build emotional awareness.
Inspired by Krishna
The product draws inspiration from Lord Krishna, symbolizing curiosity, wisdom, and playfulness. The company says the device is rooted in cultural values such as balance and compassion, integrating traditional philosophical themes into modern AI interaction.
The goal is to offer technology that reflects Indian cultural narratives while maintaining global AI capabilities.
Designed for Safety and Tactile Comfort
Unlike plastic-heavy smart gadgets, Kanha AI is handcrafted, lathe-turned, and lacquered to create a warm, tactile presence in a child’s environment. The physical design emphasizes simplicity and safety, aligning with its philosophy of grounded, human-centered technology.
Parental Oversight and Controls
Kanha AI includes tools that allow parents to monitor and guide usage. Features include interaction summaries, emotional signal tracking, safety alerts, medical alerts, and bullying notifications. Parents can also set active hours and add personalized reminders for reading, music practice, or family interaction.
This layered oversight model aims to balance child autonomy with parental supervision.
Company Vision
Ankush Sabharwal, Founder and CEO of CoRover AI, said the device is intended to amplify human values rather than replace them. According to him, Kanha AI is built around conscious parenting and responsible AI deployment, particularly in early childhood development.
As AI tools increasingly enter classrooms and homes, Kanha AI reflects a growing trend toward voice-based, culturally contextualized digital companions designed to minimize screen dependency while supporting developmental goals.
